Opening up the ole inbox this week, a blast from the Bandcamp Notes newsletter arrived featuring none other than our own beloved Trash Man, aka Alex Mojaverian. The extremely kind review showered praise on the latest EP, Direct Cremation, out today. For me, the real standout blurb from the piece is this reflection:
Mojaverian’s honest, simple songs are distinguished by a lack of nihilism that stands in refreshing contrast to the surrounding sea of irony-poisoned rock music about how much everything sucks.
This perfectly captures the allure of Trash Man. Across his three EP’s there is plenty of self-deprecation, legitimate concern about the world around him, his place in it, his relationships, the poison of politics and social media, et al. Direct Cremation is inspired by a funeral home sale for crissakes! But through all of that dread, he ultimately perseveres with positivity.
That outlook combined with giant guitars, blasting drums and memorable hooks makes for an undeniably good listen.
Direct Cremation is out everywhere today. The EP is available on sparkly cassette, digital and streaming everywhere. Find it on Bandcamp, Ampwall, Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube Music, Subvert, Mirlo, Amazon Music, and anywhere you like to enjoy your music.
Have you seen the EP’s music videos? No better time than now.
